Dugan, Highspire, PA Father - Samuel Wensell Dugan, Born Highspire, PA on 4/10/14 Me - Jeffrey William Dugan, Born Harrisburg, PA on 2/19/49 I'll try to do some tracing and get back to you. Regards. Jeffrey Screen Name: Teteque Member Name: JEFF DUGAN Location: Montoursville, PA USA Birthdate: 2/19 Sex: Male Marital Status: Married Computers: Mac LC II Hobbies: Music, Computers, Reading, Woodworking Occupation: Educator From: Teteque To: LYMAN DUGG I did some more checking with my parents. My grandfather was Samuel L. Dugan (not C), although as far as they know his wife just gave him the middle initial "L". They do not know if he had any middle name. He had a brother Charles who lived in Steelton, PA and that is actually where my grandfather was from. He lived in Highspire during his adult life and worked at Bethlehem Steel Corp in Steelton. His wife's name was Eulie. He is buried in the Highspire Cemetery and he died sometime during WW II - not a war casualty, just died at that time. The family does not know anything else about him and there is no record in the family bible except "Eulie married Samuel Dugan". From: Teteque To: LYMAN DUGG Second reply to your requests: I have a brother who died in 1947 who was named Barry Michael Dugan. My mother's name is Marjorie Barry Dugan. My father had a sister, Eloise Dugan Nelson who lived in New Holland, PA and who is deceased. My wife is Judith Williams Dugan and we have two children -Sheri Louise Dugan and Jason Matthew Dugan. .............................................................. Lyman Duggan ....................................................................... .. Subj: Duggan Newsletter Date: 95-03-15 18:04:35 EST From: SPAT630591 To: LYMAN DUGG I am using Family Tree Maker for Windows. I am sending out a monthly Wilson Research letter to abt. 50 people. I had to quit using AOL for the email because I was having the same problems as you are. I also have a Netcom Internet account and starting using it instead. I have had no problems with it. If your letter is over 25k it will split up into 2 parts but it gets there. With the activity that you have it might be easier for you to post the letter once a month in the Genealogical Records archive. I copy my newsletter to that archive each month for public download and have had lots of response from it. I have also made contact with Compuserve and Prodigy forums to share info with them. I have had contacts from many individuals that are not even on the forums but have access to the internet and have been given copies of the letter. You are doing a great job! Beware of the cost though. The bill I received from AOL after my first newsletter made me more aware of the amt. of time used for the publication and the need to moniter my time on line more closely. My Netcom account costs a flat $19.95 a month and gives me access to everything I could possibly need on the internet. I have joined several genealogy newsgroups and get lots of info from them so I probably will drop my AOL account in the near future. I will let you know so everyone will know where to contact me if they want to share Duggan information. Thanks, Patricia Wilson Spradley SPat630591@aol.com PSprad@ix.netcom.com Dear Patricia, I hope you had a fine St. Patrick's Day. Many thanks for your nice letter and all the information. Your idea of posting the Newsletter in the archives is great. I'll have to go back in there and figure out how to do that. Wouldnt it be great if we could search the archives just like we can search the membership list and just type in a keyword. Are you aware of the genealogy data base that follows: Date: 95-03-16 08:31:27 EST From: EvelynS825 To: LYMAN DUGG Lyman-We aren't offering five free surnames for GEDCOM at this time. We are just to swamped and haven't done this for quiete some time. To order disks, please send $10.00 per surname to the address below. We are working on being able to offer Mastercard and Visa in the near future. FAMILY DISK EXCHANGE EAST 12502 FRIDEGER ELK, WA 99009 Pat.....they claim to have more than 3 million on their data base. Im going to try the Duggan name and see what they come up with. Lyman ..................................... To: LYMAN DUGG Let me know if the disk you ordered is any good. I had one person tell me they ordered one and she wasn't happy with the result. Some people also expect too much so I would like another opinion. Looking forward to the next issue! Thanks Pat ....................................................................... Subj: Re: Duggan Newsletter nr Thre... Date: 95-03-18 06:16:46 EST From: TDugan3643 To: LYMAN DUGG Great Idea! Am now in the process of tracing family tree. The only info I have to date on my father is Albert Corey Dugan DOB:11/27/04. He also had two other children by previous marriages - Dixie Lee Dugan 10/07/35 and Michael Albert Dugan 08/24/43. Maybe all this interest in Duggan/Dugan will turn them out. Thanks again and keep up the good work. Terry Lee Dugan ....................................................................... Subj: Re: Duggan Newsletter nr 4d,e Date: 95-03-18 12:48:06 EST From: Dugan To: LYMAN DUGG Thanks for the newsletters, and copies of replies you've received. So where to begin? My name is Charles John Dugan, born 1954 in Bristol, Pennsylvania. My father, also Charles John, was born there as well in 1905. My mother was Anne McGee, also born in Bristol Pennsylavania in 1918. I know more about my mother's side of the family, due to the research of a McGee cousin. One thing known is that both the McGee and Dugan families came from Donegal, and knew each other "on the other side." The McGees are from Falcaragh, in the very northern part of Donegal, opposite Tory Island. I visited my McGee relatives in 1978 (on my way home from having been a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tunisia). Of course, they all looked just like my mother's brothers. I suspect, therefore that my Dugan branch comes from around Falcaragh, Donegal. My father's mother, was Sarah Kelly, raised in New Hope, Pennsylavania, although I am not sure where she was born. Her brother was Captain Jack Kelly, a Delaware River tugboat captain. My father's father, also Charles John was born in the USA, probably Bristol Pennsylvania, but I am not sure of that. I have a sister, Mary Anne Dugan, married and living near Philadelphia. She may know more about our geneaology, although she is not on AOL, as far as I know. I'll ask her. I thank you, Lyman, for putting this thing together. Would also appreciate hearing from any Dugan's from Pennsylvania or who believe their family is originally from Donegal. Best Regards, Charles J. Dugan ................................................ Charles 18 Mar 95 Thanks from all of us for the Pennslyvania Duggan information. I hope that you can add to this with dates, spouses, children, locations etc., and we all hope to hear from you soon. I have paid a geneology service for more Duggan data and hope to have this information on disk in a couple of weeks to share with everone who is interested. I will probably place it in the Geneology archives here on AOL. I have asked a friend to place a notice in Compuserve's Genealogy section alerting as to where we are, and, I am looking forward to hearing from all our cousins there. I am looking forward to hearing from you again shortly...say hi to your sister from all of us here!
